The Royal National Theatre sought Arts Council England funding to assist with the refurbishment and extension of their South Bank in central London.
HERA’s role was to provide expert advice following a desk top survey of the grant funding application submitted to the Arts Council England. Our role focused on analysing cost, management, governance, programme and phasing, match funding, operation delivery, risk management, procurement approach, and cash flow management.
Following this initial work, our role has developed as the project has progressed, acting in the role of construction advisor from the award of grant, to completion of capital works. The challenges associated with a central London site, ensuring two out three theatres were able to remain operational during the capital works, and ensuring that Royal National Theatre were able to operate effectively during the works and decanting phases brought increased challenges to this role.
